The Institute for European Studies at UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles is offering a 4-year PhD position (2×2 years) funded by the FSR Seedfund of UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles.
The position focuses on a timely and important topic in EU studies:
(RQ1) How do institutional actors within the EU perceive the legitimacy of interest groups? (RQ2) What accounts for the variation in these perceptions of the legitimacy of interest groups across individuals and institutions?
🗓️ Start date: 1 September 2025 (with some flexibility)
📍 Location: Brussels
💶 Funding: ~€2,300/month (doctoral grant)

We’re looking for a motivated early-career researcher with a.o.:
✅ A Master’s degree in political science, European studies, public administration (or related fields)
✅ A strong interest in EU governance and lobbying
✅ Research experience and a curious, independent mindset
✅ Excellent command of English; French is a plus
✅ Willingness to engage in both qualitative and quantitative research
You’ll work under the supervision of Prof. Sophie Jacquot and Dr. Samuel Defacqz, in a dynamic and supportive academic environment.
