Brogna Valentina

Valentina Brogna is Guest lecturer in EU Politics and International Relations at UCLouvain Saint-Louis – Bruxelles (USL-B) since 2023.

She is also Guest lecturer in European Institutions and Policies at ESPOL (Lille) and in Sociology at UCLouvain Mons in 2023/2024. Previously, she has been teaching assistant in Security Practices and Political Violence at ULB (2022/2023) and in Diplomacy, Negotiation and Mediation at ESPOL (2021/2022).

She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles, earned in 2023 under the co-supervision by Prof. Amandine Orsini (USL-B) and Prof. Isaline Bergamaschi (ULB) and funded through FRESH (F.R.S. FNRS) and FSR (USL-B) grants.

Her PhD thesis is titled “From Sustainable Development to African Renaissance? Transnational Civil Society Organisations narrating development between Europe and Africa”. It focuses on narratives around “development” by International Non Governmental Development Organisations (INGDOs) and Pan-African Diaspora Organisations mostly active at EU level.

She holds a Master’s degree with honors in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace and a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Political Science and International Relations from Padua University (Italy). She also holds a Certificate of Political Studies with honors (CEP, mention très bien) from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux (France).

From 2012 to beginning 2017, Valentina worked at the European Women’s Lobby (Brussels), an umbrella of women’s organisations in Europe, holding different positions including communication, policy and advocacy, governance and membership management. Previously, she worked as an intern at FOCSIV (Rome), an Italian federation of NGDOs, and as volunteer editor for a grassroot Afro-Italian association in Verona.

Valentina Brogna est chargée de cours invitée de EU Politics et International Relations à l’UCLouvain Saint-Louis – Bruxelles depuis 2023.

Elle est aussi chargée de cours invitée de European Institutions and Policies à ESPOL (Lille) et de Sociologie à l’UCLouvian Mons en 2023/2024. Elle a été assistante en Securoty Practices and Political Violence à l’ULB (2022/2023) et en Diplomacy, Negotiation and Mediation à ESPOL (2021/2022).

Elle est titulaire d’un Doctorat en sciences politiques et sociales de l’Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles, obtenu en 2023 sous la co-direction de la Prof. Amandine Orsini (USL-B) et de la Prof. Isaline Bergamaschi (ULB) et financé par un mandat FRESH (F.R.S. FNRS) et une bourse FSR (USL-B).

Sa thèse, s’intitule “From Sustainable Development to African Renaissance? Transnational Civil Society Organisations narrating development between Europe and Africa”. Elle porte sur les recits du « développement » par  des Organisations non gouvernementales internationales de développement (ONGID) et des Organisations panafricaines de la diaspora actives notamment au niveau européen.

Elle est titulaire d’un diplôme de Master en Institutions et politiques des droits humains et de la paix, avec félicitations du jury, et d’un diplôme de Bachelier en Science politique et Relations internationales, avec félicitations du jury, de l’Université de Padoue (Italie). Elle est aussi titulaire d’un Certificat d’Etudes Politiques (CEP, avec mention très bien) de l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux (France).

De 2012 à début 2017, Valentina a travaillé au Lobby européen des femmes (Bruxelles), une coupole d’organisations de femmes en Europe, y occupant différents postes, y compris de gestion de la communication, des politiques et plaidoyer, de la gouvernance et de la participation des membres. Précédemment, elle a travaillé comme stagiaire auprès de FOCSIV (Rome), une fédération italienne d’ONGD, et en tant que rédactrice bénévole pour une association afro-italienne de Vérone.
