DESCRIPTION:Water Management in Germany and South Korea: A Comparison of Climate Change Adaptation Strategies\nYi Hyun Kang \n \nRoom P61 (USL-B) \nMy presentation will be about my PhD dissertation which compared South Korean and German adaptation policies for and approaches to water management. While the two countries share similarities in social\, economic and geographic conditions\, their flood risk management policies are significantly different. Germany prioritised nature-based solutions\, whereas South Korea preferred the construction of dams and dredging. My thesis examined the institutional and discursive background of their policy-making processes.

DESCRIPTION:Le séminaire International Political Sociology Belgium (IPS Belgium) est une initiative portée par des doctorant-e-s et jeunes chercheu-r-se-s travaillant dans les universités belges francophones et flamandes.\nLes buts du séminaires sont d’émuler une réflexion collective sur les approches sociologiques en relations internationales à travers des séances de lecture et de discussion de travaux en cours. Les présentations sont effectuées en anglais par des doctorant-e-s et postdoc\, puis commentées par deux discutant-e-s\, l’un-e junior\, l’autre sénior. La participation est ouverte à toute personne intéressée.\n\nPour la première séance de la deuxième série du séminaire IPS Belgium\, Anne Xuan Nguyen (ULB-REPI/EASt\, chercheuse affiliée au CRESPO) présentera un chapitre de sa thèse\, intitulé Artefacts of War and Peace. Le texte sera discuté par Rocco Bellanova (Université d’Amsterdam) et Zeger Verleye (Université d’Anvers).
