Eighth edition of the Conference
BELGIUM: THE STATE OF THE FEDERATION
Brussels, 19 December 2019
A joint organisation of the two Belgian political science associations VPW & ABSP
Hosted by the Faculty of Economic, Social and Political Sciences of the Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles (USL-B)
The two Belgian political science associations – Vereniging voor Politieke Wetenschappen (VPW) and Association belge francophone de science politique (ABSP) – organize their eighth conference on ‘Belgium: The State of the Federation’. After Leuven in 2018, the next edition will take place in Brussels (Université Saint-Louis – Bruxelles) on Thursday 19 December 2019, the last day before the winter break, as it has now become the tradition.
This conference will again be an excellent opportunity to present and discuss results of political science research on Belgian politics and administration. Electoral and party politics, especially in the aftermath to the elections of 2018 and 2019, but also social and economic questions strongly shape the political dynamics in and of Belgium, at all levels of government.
We welcome papers that deal with any aspect of Belgian politics. Topics could include: electoral and party politics, federalism and institutional reform, participation and representation, public policies and administration ;
We also welcome papers about Belgium’s international and European politics ;
We encourage analyses that examine various levels of the polity (local, regional, federal, European and international).
